Pride in the Nation's Capital is happening during the third week of August in the Village, which stretches between James and Nepean on Bank Street. Ottawa was actually the location for the country’s first gay and lesbian demonstration, commemorated by a mural aptly named “We Demand” (check it out at the corner of Bank and Gilmour) Ottawa’s gay village, located in downtown Bank Street is also still growing with thriving LGBTQ bars and drag shows.
