ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) manifests in distinct ways:

  • Inattention: People with ADHD might struggle with focusing on tasks, following directions, or remembering details, but it's not because they don't want to or can't comprehend instructions. It's more about their brains having difficulty maintaining focus over time or shifting attention appropriately.
  • Hyperactivity: Individuals with ADHD may have trouble staying still or being quiet, especially in settings where these behaviors are expected, like in classrooms or meetings. Their need for constant movement is not always intentional but is rather a result of how their brains process stimulation and energy.
  • Impulsivity: This aspect can lead to acting quickly without thinking through the consequences, such as interrupting conversations, making rash decisions, or engaging in risky behavior. People with ADHD may know the potential outcomes but struggle to control the immediate impulse to act.Despite these challenges, people with ADHD often possess unique strengths, such as creativity, high energy, and the ability to think outside the box. With proper support, many can channel these traits positively!ADHD Awareness Month aims to promote understanding, support, and resources for individuals with ADHD and their families. Awareness efforts typically focus on education about ADHD, advocating for better treatment options, and reducing stigma surrounding the condition.
